Job summary

The Dietary Aide position supports the dietary team in a skilled nursing facility, assisting with meal preparation, serving, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness while ensuring dietary needs are met per individual care plans.

Responsibilities include following recipes and portion sizes, serving food attractively and on time, reporting dietary deviations, and collaborating with nurses and caregivers to deliver quality meals with safety in mind.

Qualifications

  • Experience in food service or healthcare is a plus but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Meal preparation following recipes and portion sizes.
  • Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely, courteous manner.
  • Adhere to dietary restrictions per care plans and record special requirements.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow safety protocols.
  • Communicate changes in residents' conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assist with inventory and report shortages or expiration items.
  • Engage with residents respectfully and support team needs.
  • Collaborate with dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers for smooth service.
  • Complete mandatory training and comply with all policies.

Job Title: Dietary Aide

Location: Omah, NE

Department: Dietary/Nutrition

Reports to: Dietary Manager or Food Service Director

Position Type: Part Time

Shift Available: 5 shifts/week 4pm-8pm

Job Summary: The Dietary Aide supports the dietary team in providing nutritious and appealing meals to residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, serving food, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring that dietary needs are met according to individual resident care plans. The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents through proper nutrition and excellent service.

Work Environment: This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
  • Meal Preparation: Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines. Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.
  • Food Service: Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely and courteous manner. Ensure that meals are presented attractively and at the appropriate temperature.
  • Dietary Compliance: Adhere to residents' dietary restrictions and preferences as outlined in their care plans. Maintain accurate records of special dietary requirements and report any deviations.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety protocols. Perform regular cleaning of work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Communication: Report any changes in residents’ conditions or concerns to the nursing staff or supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by checking and storing food supplies. Report any shortages or expired items to the Dietary Manager.
  • Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner. Address any food related concerns or preferences they may have.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service and address any resident needs.
  • Compliance: Follow all facility policies, health regulations, and safety procedures. Complete mandatory training and attend meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting is a plus but not required. On the-job training will be provided.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and capability to handle hot and cold food items.
