Job summary

Emerald Healthcare in Omaha, NE is seeking a Dietary Aide to support the dietary team in providing nutritious meals to residents in a skilled nursing facility. You will assist with meal preparation, serve meals, and help maintain kitchen cleanliness while following individual care plans.

This role emphasizes teamwork with nurses and caregivers, adherence to food safety standards, and respectful resident interactions. On-the-job training is provided; a high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service or healthcare is a plus but not required; on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand/walk extended periods, handle hot/cold foods.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines.
• Food Service: Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely and courteous manner.
• Dietary Compliance: Adhere to residents' dietary restrictions and preferences as outlined in care plans.
• Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety protocols.
• Communication: Report changes in residents’ conditions or concerns to nursing staff or supervisor.
• Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by checking and storing food supplies.
• Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner.
• Team Collaboration: Work with dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service.
• Compliance: Follow facility policies, health regulations, and safety procedures; complete mandatory training.

The Dietary Aide supports the dietary team in providing nutritious and appealing meals to residents in a skilled nursing facility. Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines. Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.
• Food Service: Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely and courteous manner. Ensure that meals are presented attractively and at the appropriate temperature.
• Dietary Compliance: Adhere to residents' dietary restrictions and preferences as outlined in their care plans. Maintain accurate records of special dietary requirements and report any deviations.
• Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety protocols. Perform regular cleaning of work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Communication: Report any changes in residents’ conditions or concerns to the nursing staff or supervisor in a timely manner.
• Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by checking and storing food supplies. Report any shortages or expired items to the Dietary Manager.
• Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner. Address any food related concerns or preferences they may have.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service and address any resident needs.
• Compliance: Follow all facility policies, health regulations, and safety procedures. Complete mandatory training and attend meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting is a plus but not required. On the-job training will be provided.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and capability to handle hot and cold food items.
