The Dietary Aide performs a variety of dining service functions in serving and maintaining clean, sanitary, and organized conditions of kitchen, dining areas, facilities, and equipment within the skilled nursing and assisted living memory care residential areas; May assist in some aspects of food preparation. Responsibilities include assisting residents with making appropriate food and beverage choices while ensuring options offered meet their dietary restrictions/orders, including being attentive to food allergies and sensitivities; performing defined work routines using various dining service utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned; assisting with all aspects of dining service set-up, including preparing meals, beverages, and other food items, ensuring all foods are served at proper temperatures and on time; preparing dining room(s) for next meal service; setting tables, refilling condiments, washing and folding clothing protectors; assisting with all aspects of clean-up to ensure all dining service areas are maintained in accordance with policies and standards by completing daily cleaning duties, bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, removing trash, stocking and storing items correctly, and keeping all dining service work areas clean; following all safety procedures and protocols as mandated by EverTrue policy, federal and state regulations, and standard food handling practices and reporting all hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and accidents or incidents to the supervisor immediately; maintaining all necessary documentation, including checking and recording food temperatures in HACCP logs, recording product usage and waste amounts, and recording any other information needed; following infection control procedures, including proper hand washing, food storage, food disposal, and wearing protective clothing and equipment when handling waste and cleaning agents. Qualifications include one year of dietary aide experience preferred, basic cooking skills and willingness to learn, knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines, ability to read, understand, and follow recipe instructions, diet orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments, willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions, patience and tolerance with staff, residents, and family members, and must have or be willing to receive a recognized food safety handling certification and Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County. Physical requirements include standing and walking the majority of the working day, reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, and manipulating various food products, dietary supplies, and equipment, ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents, and withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes.
