Job Purpose
Assists with food preparation in accordance with established procedural guidelines, as directed by the Dietary Manager or supervisor. Follows facility procedures for storing, serving, and transporting food and supplies. Responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Follows diet and NPO diet orders
• Assists in meal preparation, desserts, snacks, salads, and other dishes
• Uses proper food handling procedures and policies
• Delivers trays and serves meals to patients/residents
• Prepares between-meal nourishments and offers menu substitutions, recording them accordingly
• Communicates effectively with patients/residents and families, providing friendly and professional service

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Maintains cleanliness of dining and work areas
• Follows infection control policies
• Washes dishes and records refrigerator temperatures
• Stores food and cleaning materials properly
• Sets up and operates tray line and kitchen equipment
• Follows recipes and uses serving tools appropriately
• Checks and records water and dishwasher sanitizer levels
• Participates in surveys and ongoing education
• Respects patients' rights and complies with safety and compliance policies

Minimum Education Required
Functional literacy

Minimum Experience Required
None; on-the-job training provided

Preferred Qualifications
Previous food service or long-term care dietary experience
