Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, IA is seeking a dietary aide to assist with food preparation and patient meal service. You will follow dietician or manager instructions for modified diets and help maintain sanitation and efficient service throughout the dietary department.

Responsibilities include dishwashing, floor cleaning, and utilizing food economically while adhering to infection control policies.

1. Assists in the food preparation and food service to hospital patients, residents, personnel, Meals-On-Wheels recipients and guests.

• Prepares appetizing food by methods that conserve nutritional value.
• Serves patients according to modified diets listed by dietician or Manager.
• Assists with dishwashing.
• Serves meals to patients, employees and guests in a timely manner.
• Sanitizes work areas, cleans refrigerators and ovens as assigned.
• Sweeps and scrubs floors as assigned.
• Utilizes food in an economical fashion.
• Follows Infection Control policies pertaining to the Dietary Department.
• Knowledge of diet planning and ability to guide menu choices within the scope of those restrictions and the basic Food Pyramid.

2. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

Previous training in sanitation and modified diets preferred
