Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Dietary Aide/Cook in our Assisted Living and Memory Care facility. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing nutritious and delicious meals to our residents. You will assist in meal preparation, serving, and clean-up, ensuring dietary needs are met and meals are enjoyable. Additionally, you will uphold high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen and dining areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and serving meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and suitable for residents' dietary needs.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner, accommodating special requests and dietary restrictions.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas according to established standards.
  • Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies, notifying supervisor of any shortages or discrepancies.
  • Assist with menu planning and development under the direction of the Dietary Manager.
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling and storage of food items.
  • Assist with dishwashing and kitchen clean-up as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Dietary Aide, Cook, or similar role, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry trays, and perform tasks requiring bending and stooping.

Working Conditions

  • Shift-based work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Work environment includes exposure to hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Physical demands include standing for extended periods and lifting/carrying heavy trays or containers.
