Job summary

Runk & Pratt Health Care Ent in Smith Mountain Lake, VA seeks an entry level dining service assistant to support patient meals and resident care. You will ensure meals are served pleasantly, assist the cook with prep, and help residents to and from the dining area in a collaborative healthcare environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, flexible weekend availability, and the ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Complete annual in‑service training as required.
• State Police background check clean.
• Current TB screening on or within 7 days prior to start, free from TB.
• Ability to meet physical requirements for position.
• Schedules are flexible based on needs of residents; open weekend availability & holidays.
• Must pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all meals are served in a patient and pleasant manner.
• Provides superior customer service to residents during mealtimes.
• Accommodates residents' needs by making changes as requested.
• Refills drinks throughout the meal.
• Assists the cook with food preparation as required.
• Responsible for cleaning up after meals.
• Ensures each resident receives the correct diet.
• Assists residents to and from the dining area as needed.
• Safely operates hot and cold beverage dispensers.
• Stores frozen, cold and dry foods properly.
• Performs daily tasks as directed by the Culinary Director/Manager; works as a team member.
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment.
• Adheres to kitchen safety and sanitation measures.
• Follows Serve Safe procedures.
• Knowledge of serving techniques, portion control and presentation.
• Attendance required during inclement weather.
• Follows infection control policies & procedures.
• Complies with all Runk and Pratt policies.

Level: Entry, Job Location: Smith Mountain Lake - Hardy, VA 24101, Salary Range: $13.00 - $14.50 Hourly,

• Ensures that all meals are served in a patient and pleasant manner
• Provides superior customer service to the residents for whom mealtimes may be the most valued social experience during the day
• Accommodates the needs of the residents by making any changes residents request pleasantly and timely
• Refills drinks throughout the meal
• Take all suggestions, concerns, and requests to the Culinary Director
• Assists the cook with any food prep that is required
• Responsible for cleaning up after meals
• Ensures each resident receives the correct diet
• Assists residents to and from the dining area as needed
• Safely operates hot and cold beverage dispensers
• Ensures that frozen, cold and dry foods are stored properly
• Performs daily tasks as set forth by the Culinary Director/Manager and cooperates with all staff in the best interests of the residents and acts as a team member in all areas
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment
• Possesses knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation measures
• Possesses knowledge of Serve Safe procedures
• Knowledge of serving techniques, portion control and presentation
• Attendance is required during inclement weather
• Follows infection control policies & procedures
• Follows all policies & procedures of Runk and Pratt
• Maintains appropriate & respectful conduct within the workplace
• Provides support in any area that may arise that is above and beyond the normal expectations for this position.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED
• Complete annual in-service training as required
• State Police background check that is free from barrier offenses
• A current Tuberculosis screening on or within 7 days prior to the first day of employment and free from Tuberculosis
• The ability to meet physical requirements for position
• Schedules are flexible based on needs of residents
• Must have open weekend availability & holiday hours required
