Job summary

Blue Ridge Senior Living is seeking an Assist Dietary Cook/Dietary Aide to help prepare and serve meals for residents, following state and federal regulations. You will support culinary staff in daily tasks, prepare snacks, and help set up dining areas to ensure a pleasant dining experience.

The role requires basic high school education; prior dietary experience is not mandatory, though experience in long‑term care or hospital settings is a plus.

Job description

Assist Dietary Cooks and Dietary Aides in the preparation and service of meals served to residents by performing the proper procedures as outlined by state and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Assists in the preparation of food in quantities according to the menu, recipe and number of persons to beserved
  
  • Prepares snacks asneeded
  • Sets up dining room asinstructed
  • Prepares items such as salads andbeverages
• Takes resident orders on an as needed basis in dining room and serves meals to residents in a timelymanner
• Cleans resident eating areas, work areas, equipment and utensils according to the properprocedures
  
  • Collects and stacks dirty dishes on cart and returns cart tokitchen
  • Washes cooking equipment, pots, pans, dishes andutensils
  • Cleans eating and prep surfaces, sweeps and mopsfloor
  • Removes garbage asneeded
  • Stores food in designatedareas
• Reports any issues or problems that may arise to the DietaryManager
• Complies with state and federal sanitationstandards
• Complies with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safetystandards
• Attends in‑services and other requiredmeetings
• Performs other duties and tasks asassigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

• High School diploma or equivalent; no dietary experiencerequired.
• Previous experience in a long‑term care or hospital settingpreferred
