Position Summary

part Time 8am‑2pm & 4pm‑7pmThe Dietary Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment. Assists in food preparation and plates food according to dietary guidelines for regular and special diets.

Responsibilities

• Handle transport and plate food for residents, guests, and employees.
• Plate food according to the planned menu using standard recipes and portion guidelines.
• Assist other kitchen staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Ensure that sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared; communicate with the supervisor of shortages or outages.
• Maintain freshness, cooking status, and proper temperature of all food served.
• Maintain all daily logs, postings, and documentation required for meal services.
• Stock and clean station for the next shift, following proper food rotation policies.
• Operate equipment safely and report any discrepancies to the executive chef.
• Deliver and retrieve food carts to and from satellite kitchens; set up service line and prepare for meal service.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes and utensils from meal services.
• Monitor and control use of soap and cleaning agents in the dishwasher.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout work areas, including daily or scheduled cleaning duties.
• Scrub and mop floors, clean and sanitize equipment, and inventory and stock food and paper goods in satellite kitchens.
• Prepare snacks and beverages for residents between meal services.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to the executive chef.
• Maintain a positive attitude that supports teamwork and promotes positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
• Ensure an environment of privacy, dignity, and well‑being for all residents, maintaining safety and universal precautions.
• Clean and inspect kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
• Present a professional appearance by wearing a uniform and name tag.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, or technical school.
• Strong ability to work independently and manage meal service for 20 residents.
• Food service work experience required.
• Great communication skills.

General Working Conditions

This position entails standing for long periods of time. The employee must communicate effectively, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee must read, write, and speak fluent English. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently bend, reach, grasp, climb, squat, and kneel. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others, moderate noise level, and occasional travel to different locations.
