Job summary

Apple Rehab Shelton Lakes is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist with meal preparation, dining area cleanup and daily resident interactions at our Shelton, CT community. The role includes supporting with food storage, sanitation and safety compliance.

Position offers Full-Time, Part-Time (3:30pm–7:30pm) and Per Diem opportunities in a resident-centered environment focused on quality care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be able to walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to write and record data; read and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Remain calm and efficient in emergencies.
• Communicate professionally with residents, staff and family.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal and snack preparation and dining area clean-up.
• Assist receiving, rotating and storing supplies and food.
• Maintain clean storage and work areas; ensure sanitation and safety compliance.
• Interact with residents daily to support their comfort and wellbeing.

Dietary Aide

The Dietary Aide assists in preparation of meals and snacks as well as clean up of dining areas. Assists with receiving, rotating and storing of supplies and food. The Dietary Aide has daily interactions with the residents of our community. Helps to clean work areas, wash dishes, pans and utensils.

The Dietary Aide complies with infection control, safety and sanitation functions of the facility. Ensures that food storage and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner, and that equipment and supplies are properly maintained. The Dietary Aide handles food in accordance with sanitary regulations, and reports immediately all violations of safety or sanitation rules to supervisor.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk, bend, lift, push, pull, turn, stoop and stretch.

• Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights and to lift large items up to 50lbs.

• Ability to write and record data, to read and follow oral and written instructions in English.

• Ability to remain calm and work efficiently in cases of emergency.

• Ability to communicate with residents, staff, family members in a professional manner.
