Dietary Aide Job Summary

The Dietary Aide assists residents in fulfilling specific dietary requirements to promote their health and wellbeing. They also support the Dietary Manager in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Services Department, ensuring quality food service and nutritional care in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Major Duties and Critical Tasks

1. Preparing and cooking food dishes, delivering food to patients, and assisting kitchen staff in maintaining cleanliness.
2. Reviewing department policies, procedures, manuals, and participating in updates to stay current with protocols.
3. Interpreting policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and family members as necessary.
4. Preparing meals, snacks, and beverages following specific procedures.
5. Serving meals while following food safety and hygiene procedures.
6. Taking inventory of kitchen supplies and food items.
7. Setting up and cleaning dining areas and assisting with kitchen maintenance.
8. Participating in educational programs on nutrition.

Required Education, Skills, and Abilities

Education: Must possess at least a high school diploma.

Experience: Previous experience as a Dietary Aide is preferred. Bonus experience includes training in cost control, food management, or diet therapy. Any combination of experience and training that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for a Dietary Aide in a skilled nursing facility is acceptable.

Must have reliable transportation.
