Job Title: Dietary Aid (Full-Time)
NHCHealthCare is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Dietary Aid to join our team.
General Purpose:
Performs various duties related to the production and service of patient meals.
Responsible To:
Director of Dietary / Dietary Manager / Assistant Dietary Manager / Cook
Qualifications:
- Interest in foodservice and working with geriatric and healthcare patients.
- Willingness to learn food preparation and simple cooking skills.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, therapeutic and modified diets.
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures and commitment to daily practices.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- English speaking and understanding; reading skills may be required.
- Ability to read labels, MSDS sheets, and use products safely.
- Good mental and physical condition.
- Ability to work cooperatively with all staff and follow policies.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality.
- Possession or willingness to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate or Sanitation Course as required.
- Ability to work under supervision.
Physical Demands:
- Standing or walking most of the day; ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist.
- Ability to lift 50-60 pounds, sweep, mop, push/pull carts, climb ladders.
- Manual dexterity and mental acuity.
- Good vision and hearing for communication and safety.
- Ability to handle food service equipment and assess food quality.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and noisy, moist environments.
- Alertness to prevent injuries and accidents.
- No medical conditions endangering self or others in the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Being a self-starter and making independent decisions when necessary.
- Understanding and complying with all relevant regulations.
- Maintaining a safe, sanitary, and secure dietary environment.
- Conserving supplies and utilities; reporting needs or concerns.
- Receiving, storing, and handling food and supplies properly.
- Cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and work areas.
- Assisting in food preparation and service, including therapeutic diets.
- Communicating effectively with staff, patients, and families.
- Setting up trays, verifying diet accuracy, and delivering meals.
- Cleaning dining areas and attending training sessions.
- Supervising in the absence of senior staff and adhering to dress code.
- Performing other duties as required.
