Job summary

The Meadows of Rockwell Retirement Center is seeking a compassionate Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and provide nutritious, high-quality meals to residents. This role focuses on meal assistance, safety, and positive dining experiences in a supportive elder care setting.

You will work with the dietary team to follow plans, ensure sanitation, and engage residents during meals, while upholding high service standards in a caring community environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a food service role is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Meal assistance: help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans.
• Sanitation & cleanliness: maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and equipment as needed.
• Resident support: assist with meal setup, serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food safety: follow all food safety protocols for storage, handling, and sanitation.
• Inventory support: assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, monitor shortages.
• Team collaboration: work with the dietary team to ensure smooth kitchen/dining operations.
• Resident engagement: fulfill special dietary requests and resident preferences during meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.

• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.

• Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.

• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.

• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.

• Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents' individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.

Qualifications:
