Dietary Aide

The hours for this position are 4:00pm-8:00pm and every other weekend.

Summary:

The Food and Nutrition Services Aide is responsible for providing assistance in all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review, prepare & serve meals in accordance with planned menus with standardized recipes & special diet orders. Prepare & serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served. Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
2. Maintain the department in a clean & safe manner by ensuring that necessary equipment & supplies are maintained. Follow the facility’s standards on Infection Control Precautions during daily tasks.
3. Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures, assuring utensils, etc., are available for the next meal.
4. Prepare & deliver snacks as instructed. Deliver food carts, trays to designated areas. Serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed. Sweep & mop floors in the kitchen/dish room as directed by supervisor.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Maintain the care & use of supplies and equipment, ensure the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of duties.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, and be willing to handle residents appropriately based on their current maturity level.
• Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing food practices.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
