Responsibilities

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with the preparation of the salad bar, maintaining an adequate supply of beverages, ensuring the cafeteria and dining room remain clean at all times, assisting in the preparation and delivery of patient meals and room supplies, operating the dish machine, assisting the cook as required, and stocking kitchen necessities on each floor as required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalency required. Must have a basic knowledge of food services sanitation practices.

Dietary Aide Job Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of the dining room and food preparation areas at all times.
• Sweeps and mops floors daily.
• Follows the weekly cleaning schedule determined by the Food Services Coordinator.
• Washes dishes and maintains the dish room area in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Records dish machine temperatures daily.
• Complies with all corporate, facility, and departmental policies and procedures regarding food service and standards of conduct.
• Follows all sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Reports equipment malfunctions immediately to the Food Services Coordinator.
• Interacts courteously with patients in the serving line and offers assistance when needed.
• Encourages harmonious working relationships within the department and with all facility employees.
• Prepares salad bar, desserts, and snacks daily, including setup and cleanup.
• Follows daily food production directives given by the Food Services Coordinator, utilizing portion control guidelines.
• Obtains tray counts by unit for each meal and assists the Cook in preparing meal trays.
• Adheres to facility, department, corporate, personnel, and standard policies and procedures.
• Attends all mandatory in-services and staff development activities.
• Maintains standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality.
• Supports quality and performance improvement goals.
• Maintains confidentiality of employee and patient information.
• Performs any other duties as determined necessary by Hospital Administration for effective operation.
