Job description

We are looking for two (2) full-time Dietary Aides with 1 to 2 years of experience in a long-term care facility. Shifts are from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm and 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Weekend and holiday hours are required.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Daily set-up, preparation, presentation, and clean-up of meals for Health Center residents. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a quality meal program for our residents in the Health Center and Assisted Living Unit and their guests, while encouraging independence and a positive sense of well-being.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Report to work in a timely manner, in uniform, and ready to work. Maintain a positive attitude and practice a "Yes We Can" philosophy.
• Set up dining rooms before and after meals.
• Serve residents in the dining rooms and their patient rooms efficiently.
• Set up trays on the kitchen serving line and deliver meals promptly.
• Follow proper menu according to physician’s and/or registered dietitian's diet orders and resident requests.
• Assist with general cleaning, including dishes, tabletops, chairs, countertops, and serving areas after each meal.
• Keep refrigerator, cabinets, pantry, and freezer stocked.
• Assist residents with eating under supervision.
• Return soiled linens and pick up clean items from laundry.
• Maintain cleanliness of dining rooms, kitchen, pantry, refrigerator, and food carts.
• Vacuum dining rooms after meals.
• Return dishes and flatware to proper storage areas.
• Handle food items in a sanitary manner.
• Assist in preparing salads, beverages, and desserts.
• Work cooperatively with kitchen and staff.
• Assist in setting up resident parties in the Health Center.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral directions.
• Judgment to serve food in correct portions and appetizing manner.
• Positive, outgoing personality with a smile.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to do moderate lifting and push food carts.
• Assist in resident evacuation if necessary.
