Job summary

Newark Rehabilitation in Newark, OH is seeking a dedicated Dietary Aide to assist in preparing and serving meals that meet dietary guidelines and residents' nutritional needs. You will support the dietary team to promote health and well-being through proper nutrition.

You will help with food safety, sanitation, dining setup, and inventory, while communicating dietary preferences and participating in planning of special programs. This role is on-site and offers room for professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
• Understanding of dietary restrictions and nutritional requirements is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Compassionate attitude and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents/patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals and snacks according to menus and guidelines.
• Ensure food is served at correct temperatures and appealing.
• Support dietary staff in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.
• Help with setup and cleanup of dining areas, including washing dishes and equipment.
• Serve food to residents/patients, accommodating dietary restrictions.
• Monitor and record food and fluid intake as needed.
• Assist in inventory management, including ordering and restocking supplies.
• Participate in training of new staff and ensure safety practices.
• Communicate dietary concerns and preferences with residents and staff.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to meal planning and special dietary programs.

Key Responsibilities

• - Assist in the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals and snacks according to established menus and dietary guidelines.

• - Support the dietary staff in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dining areas, following all health and safety regulations.
• - Help with the setup and cleanup of dining areas before and after meals, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• - Serve food to residents/patients, accommodating any special dietary restrictions or preferences.
• - Monitor and record food and fluid intake for residents/patients as needed.
• - Assist in inventory management, including ordering and restocking supplies.
• - Participate in the training of new staff members and ensure compliance with safety and sanitary practices.
• - Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to address dietary concerns and preferences.
