Job summary

The Viridian in New Bern, NC seeks a friendly Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and support nutritious, resident-centered meals. You will assist in meal service, sanitation, and everyday kitchen tasks to help our residents enjoy their dining experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in a food service role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and equipment.
  • Resident Support: Assist with meal setup, serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols for storage, handling, and sanitation.
  • Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies; notify shortages.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with the dietary team to ensure smooth kitchen and dining operations.
  • Resident Engagement: Fulfill special dietary requests and respect individual preferences during meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
  • Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
  • Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
