Description

General Purpose

The dietary aide's assignments are determined based on the activity of the shift and the needs of the facility. The dietary aide reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties

1. Must be able to learn food service routines quickly.
2. Set up meal trays.
3. Strip down returned trays and assist with dishwashing.
4. Assist with serving meals.
5. Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of each shift.
6. Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles.
7. Operate the dishwasher.
8. Prepare nourishments and snacks.
9. Sweep and mop the kitchen floors.
10. Handle trash and garbage properly.
11. Store groceries safely and neatly.
12. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen.
13. Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
14. Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
15. Work cooperatively with personnel across all departments.

Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

1. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Language Skills: Ability to read technical procedures, follow recipes, and communicate effectively with managers and staff.
3. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
4. Reasoning Ability: Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting instructions in various formats.
5. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally perform climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
