Job summary

Rawlins County Health Center is seeking a dedicated food service worker to support patient meals and kitchen operations. You will prepare, load, transport, and clean food carts and trays according to physician orders and schedules.

Responsibilities include maintaining kitchen cleanliness, operating the dishwasher, and assisting with care and maintenance of department equipment. Strong safety awareness and confidentiality are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred experience in large-scale food preparation and knowledge of special diets; training provided for qualified candidates.
• Subject to burns, heat and steam exposure; maintain confidentiality and patient information.

Responsibilities

• Set up and serve patient trays following established schedule and procedures.
• Clean kitchen area and cooking utensils; operate dishwasher.
• Prepare coffee and assist with food cart loading, transport and cleaning.
• Maintain department records and communicate as needed within the facility.
• Follow safety practices and uphold organizational policies.

Job description

Performs a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food; cleans kitchen, equipment, and utensils. Learns and understands various types of patient diets and assists in appropriate preparation based upon physician’s orders.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with care, cleaning and maintenance of department, equipment and supplies.
• Ability to navigate computer programs as needed for the maintenance of records, communications within the facility, and obtaining need to know patient information for proper food service.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

• Maintain temperature records for fridge, freezer and food obtained from Good Sam.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Minimum of a high school education or GED.

Minimum Experience: Prefer prior experience in large-scale food preparation and knowledge of special diets but will train otherwise qualified candidates.

Subject to burns and cuts; exposure to hot and humid work environment; exposure to hazards of steam and heat; exposure to heat, wetness, odors in kitchen and/or patient areas; and exposure to varying degrees of kitchen elements.
