Onslow House in North Carolina is looking for a compassionate Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and support nutritious, high-quality meals for residents.

You will assist with meal preparation, portioning, serving, sanitation, and keeping kitchen and dining areas clean, safe, and organized. This role emphasizes resident engagement, teamwork with the dietary staff, adherence to food safety protocols, and excellent communication to ensure a positive dining experience for every resident.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Previous experience in a food service role (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meal assistance: help prepare, portion, and serve meals according to dietary plans and special requests.
  • Sanitation & cleanliness: assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Resident support: provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food safety: follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
  • Inventory support: assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
  • Team collaboration: work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
  • Resident engagement: assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
