Summary:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with all food functions as directed, following established food policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review, prepare, and serve meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders. Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks and substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods. Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
2. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the department by ensuring equipment and supplies are well-maintained. Follow infection control precautions during daily tasks.
3. Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are available for the next meal.
4. Prepare and deliver snacks, serve food and drinks in the dining room, and deliver food carts and trays to designated areas. Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as instructed.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Maintain proper care and use of supplies and equipment. Conduct regular sanitation, safety, and order inspections of food service areas.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the ability to handle residents at their current maturity level.
• Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods and principles into food practices.
• Must not pose a health or safety threat to others in the workplace.

Physical Demands:

Must meet physical requirements to perform essential job functions, with reasonable accommodations if needed.

• Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Senses of sight and hearing, or suitable prosthetics, to adequately perform duties.
• Ability to push, pull, move, and lift at least 25 pounds, and carry weight for a minimum of 50 feet.
• Assist in resident evacuation during emergencies if necessary.
