Dietary Aide

Position Summary:

The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate; previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents; good motor coordination and manual dexterity for various routines.
• Flexible hours, patient, tolerant towards staff, residents, and family members.

Duties:

• Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment.
• Assist the cook in meal preparation and service.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow federal and state regulations and department policies.
• Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
• Set up dining area and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Report supply, equipment needs, and safety issues.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Follow fire and disaster plans during drills and emergencies.

Additional responsibilities:

• Follow infection control policies.
• Treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Report grievances and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Perform duties cooperatively and responsibly.
• Ensure sanitation and safety standards.
