Job summary

Cambridge House is seeking a dedicated Dietary Aide to assist in providing nutritious meals for residents. You will help prepare, portion, and serve meals according to dietary plans, while maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area and ensuring food safety.

You will collaborate with the dietary team to fulfill residents' dietary needs, assist with meal setup, and deliver a positive dining experience. Prior food service experience is preferred, with a strong focus on compassion for the elderly

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Previous experience in a food service role (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meal preparation, portioning, and serving to residents per dietary plans.
  • Maintain kitchen and dining area cleanliness; wash dishes and equipment.
  • Provide meals and assist with meal setup to ensure a positive dining experience.
  • Follow all food safety protocols, proper storage, handling and sanitation.
  • Assist with inventory, receiving, stocking, and flag shortages.
  • Collaborate with the dietary team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with fulfilling residents' special dietary requests during meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
  • Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
  • Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents' individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
