Job summary

Cambridge House is seeking a compassionate Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and help provide nutritious meals to residents. You’ll assist with meal preparation, portioning, and serving according to dietary plans, while maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area.

Work alongside a dedicated dietary team to ensure safety, accuracy, and a positive dining experience for residents. Prior food service experience is welcome, with strong communication and a person-centered approach valued.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous food service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meal assistance: help prepare, portion, and serve meals per dietary plans and requests.
  • Sanitation & cleanliness: maintain kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and equipment.
  • Resident support: assist with meal setup, serving, and dining experience.
  • Food safety: follow storage, handling, and sanitation protocols to ensure safety.
  • Inventory support: assist in receiving, storing, and reporting shortages.
  • Team collaboration: work with the dietary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Resident engagement: accommodate special dietary requests and preferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.

  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.

  • Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.

  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.

  • Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.

  • Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Previous experience in a food service role (preferred, but not required)

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team

  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
