• Prepares resident trays according to menus and diet orders.
• Assembles serving areas with appropriate food, condiments, and dishes.
• Parallels with the facility Dietitian to implement recommended changes.
• Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of the department at all times.
• Labels and stores food items per policy.
• Assists with inventory and storage of food and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB.

• Ensures that residents are treated with dignity, kindness and respect, maintains residents’ privacy and confidentiality and adheres to resident’s bill of rights at all times.
• Develops and maintains a good working rapport with all personnel within the facility to ensure that residents’ needs are met.
• Works with the facility Dietitian as needed and implements recommended changes as required.
• Assembles residents’ trays according to menus.
• Prepares serving areas with cold foods, condiments, serving containers, dishes, flatware, etc.
• Apportions food items based on diet order and residents’ preferences.
• Serves the residents’ dining area as needed.
• Stores and labels food items in accordance with company policy.
• Maintains standards of sanitation and food handling at all times.
• Maintains a sanitary, neat and orderly department and work area.
• Follows all dietary procedures in accordance with established policies.
• Disposes of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
• Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Director of Food Services immediately.
• Reports all accidents/incidents in accordance with established procedures.
• Wears protective clothing as needed.
• Ensures that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
• Assists in the inventory and storage of in-coming food and supplies.
• Assists in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.
• Attends ongoing Inservice and training programs as needed.
• Washes and sanitizes dishes, flatware, pots and pans.
• Stores clean dishes, flatware, pots and pans in appropriate areas.
• Performs tasks according to posted cleaning schedules.
• Rotates and replenishes stock in food storage areas.
• Disposes of refuse according to established policies.
• Loads and transports tray carts to and from service area.
• Maintains work/assignments areas free of hazardous conditions, clean and orderly and properly cleans and stores equipment prior to leaving such work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
