Job summary

Halifax Health in Deltona, FL is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist in assembling, preparing and cleaning patient meal trays. Work is performed in busy kitchen areas with heat, humidity and exposure to liquids and sharp tools. You will set up stations, follow diet restrictions, and complete cleaning tasks in accordance with Food Code and HACCP principles.

Variable hours are possible and the role requires good communication and teamwork to coordinate with kitchen staff and nursing teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills required.
• Ability to work well with others.

Dietary Aide

The Dietary Aide will assists in the assembly, preparation and clean-up of patient meal trays. Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration units. Performs work requiring light to moderate physical effort. Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent highly preferred
• Previous food service experience preferred
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic math skills required
• Ability to work well with others
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work with pre-defined time frames and deadlines
• Sets up work station with correct supplies/food items
