Halifax Health is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist in assembling, preparing and cleaning up patient meal trays. The role involves working in hot kitchen areas, standing and walking regularly, and lifting up to 20 pounds with occasional heavier lifts with assistance.

The position requires basic math, good communication, and strong teamwork, with variable hours to be set by the Supervisor. Prior food service experience is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assembles meal trays accurately using meal tickets and diet restrictions.
• Sets up workstation with correct supplies/food items.
• Daily, weekly and monthly cleaning assignments.
• Follows Food Code and HACCP principles.
• Performs other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Dietary Aide

The Dietary Aide will assists in the assembly, preparation and clean-up of patient meal trays. Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration units. Performs work requiring light to moderate physical effort. Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.

• - High School diploma or GED equivalent highly preferred
• - Previous food service experience preferred
• - Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
• - Basic math skills required
• - Ability to work well with others
• - Good organizational skills and the ability to work with pre-defined time frames and deadlines
• - Sets up work station with correct supplies/food items
