Job summary

Avalon Health Care Inc in Salt Lake City, UT, seeks a Dietary Aide to assist in food preparation and serving, maintain sanitary kitchen and dining areas, and support the Services Manager or Cook. This role requires reading and following directions, ability to work with residents, and regular attendance.

Shifts are 6:30am–6:30pm with hourly pay between $17.00 and $18.77. Must hold a Food Handler's permit/Serve Safe, and comply with safety and infection control procedures in a 24/7 healthcare

Qualifications

• Must Possess a Food Handler's permit/ Serve Safe Certification as per State Requirements.
• Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Must be able to relate positively and favorable to residents, families and to work cooperatively with other associates.
• Must maintain regular attendance.
• Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must be able to work in a non-temperature regulated environment (work near ovens, stoves, enter walk in refrigerators/freezers).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks. Using portion control procedures.
• Assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment and floors, dishes and utensils; assist in checking trays for menu and diet.
• Ensure proper storage of foods and supplies.
• Adhere to universal precautions and sanitary and infection control policies and procedures.
• Ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meals and assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and supplies, and report any hazardous conditions, equipment, accident and incidents.
• Comply with company policies involving all safety and infection control procedures.

Effective July 1, the E. Roy Stone Veterans Pavilion on the CM Tucker campus, will transfer to the SC Department of Veteran Affairs from the SC Department of Mental Health. Avalon Health Care, a privately operated company experienced in the long-term care needs of Veterans, will operate the Veterans Home for the SC Department of Veterans Affairs.

$17.00 - $18.77 /hr

Physical and Sensory Requirement's (With or Without Aid of Mechanical Devices):

• Walking, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, grasping, climbing, pushing, pulling and lifting objects.
• The ability to work at a rapid pace for an entire shift.
• The employee must regularly lift or move objects or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and move objects weighing over 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
• Must have finger and hand dexterity sufficient to type, handle and manipulate instruments and operate departmental equipment.
• Have a working understanding of English; ability to read and write; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; ability to verbally communicate with residents and others; ability to hear and respond.

This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

This is a position in a healthcare facility that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and working during inclement weather may be required.
