Dietary / Housekeeping Aide - PRN

Under the direction of the on‑duty Cook and Nutrition Services Director, the Dietary aide performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties such as preparing food trays for general and therapeutic diets, delivering items as requested by patient care units, maintaining tray line in a clean, neat and organized manner, preparing special diet foods, serving hospital food to employees and guests, loading and overseeing dishwashers, washing specified items by hand, disposing of trash, mopping floors, cleaning walk‑in refrigerators and storage areas, stocking groceries, assisting in preparing salads, desserts and nourishments, performing special cleaning duties as assigned, and cross‑training in housekeeping department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food trays for general and therapeutic diets.
• Deliver items to patient care units or patients as requested.
• Maintain tray line in a clean, neat, and organized manner.
• Prepare special diet foods as necessary.
• Deliver food carts to patient care units and return carts to kitchen at designated times.
• Serve hospital food to employees and guests.
• Load and oversee dishwashers; wash specified items by hand.
• Dispose of trash and garbage appropriately.
• Put clean dishes and utensils away.
• Mop floors as scheduled.
• Clean walk‑in refrigerators and storage areas and stock groceries.
• Assist in preparing salads, desserts, and nourishments.
• Perform special cleaning duties assigned by Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
• Cross‑train in housekeeping department.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
