Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife is hiring Diet Technicians to provide nutritional services for residents across our geriatric programs in Ohio. You will work in a resident-centered setting, collaborating with care teams to support daily meal planning and nourishment.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in dietetic technology from an ADA accredited program.
• Licensure/Certification: Registered Dietetic Technician.
• Experience: Supervisory, computer, nutrition and food service experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Orient dietary services around autonomy and dignity of elders.
• Communicate caring, concern, and dignity for elders.
• Place dietary decision-making in the hands of elders when possible.
• Make prompt and accurate judgments for elder care and emergencies.
• Work and communicate effectively as part of the self-directed work team.
• Must cope with mental and emotional stress related to ill, disabled, elderly or upset individuals.
• Must communicate in English.
• Must be detail oriented with strong literacy, writing and documentation.
• Must be able to use tools and equipment required.

Our Diet Technicians provide nutritional services to residents, guests, and other personnel under the standards of professional responsibility and practice. In our Small House Neighborhood elder care model, you will have the opportunity to serve elders in a resident oriented, non-institutional setting.

Works with primarily a geriatric population age range of 62 to 85+. The population occasionally includes younger adults over the age of 18.

Responsibilities/Skills

• Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotional upset.
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Must be detailed oriented and have excellent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.
• Must be able to use tools and equipment required

An applicant should have an interest in caring for the overall best interest of the elders and must have an understanding of the requirements of the position.
