Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health in Fairfield, CT is seeking a part-time Diet Tech to support the Registered Dietitian in implementing nutrition and dietary services for the program. You will assist with patient meal planning, grocery budgeting, and maintaining a clean, stocked kitchen.

You will lead weekly dietary groups, ensure food safety, and communicate effectively with staff while following HIPAA, Joint Commission, and health guidelines. Schedule: Wed/Thu 11am-7pm and Fri/Sat 11am-3pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required and CPI certification within 90 days.
• CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Food Handling/Safety certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Education or experience in dietary or nutrition sciences preferred.
• Valid and unrestricted State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records; and of facility/company proprietary information.
• Assists in the implementation of individual patient treatment plans per clinical team.
• Purchase all grocery items for facility, considering variety, special diets, and food safety in compliance with health standards.
• Analyze food service providers to ensure quality products at cost effective prices.
• Uphold dietary program and advise patients on food choices.
• Prepare meals and snacks per dietary guidelines.
• Facilitate weekly dietary groups as dictated by the schedule.
• Ensure health code policies, HIPAA and licensing regulations are followed.
• Maintain organized and safe environment and perform housekeeping duties.
• Conduct facility and grounds checks and advise leadership of safety concerns.
• Facilitate and lead daily groups as directed by facility leadership.
• Provide transportation services including patient transportation if pre-qualified to drive.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
