Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a patient meal service associate to initiate and manage patient meals per prescribed diets in a hospital setting. You will verify orders, assemble trays, and deliver meals while maintaining exceptional customer service and empathy.

You will interact with patients and staff, check allergies, and support dietary needs. The role requires independent work, basic nutrition knowledge, and timely meal service within a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED completed.
• Food safety certification required within 90 days of job entry.

Responsibilities

• Initiates meal service for patients according to prescribed diet order.
• Processes meal orders and verifies meal selections, assembles trays where applicable.
• Delivers meals and optimizes patient experience through excellent customer service.
• Retrieves trays after meals and communicates with patients, staff and guests.
• Collaborates with dining services staff to facilitate meal service; observes allergies and dietary preferences.
• Able to work independently in an unsupervised environment; may assist with enteral supplies.

Description

Initiates meal service for patients and ensures patient receives diet according to prescribed diet order. Processes meal order and verifies meal selections, assembles tray where applicable, delivers meal and optimizes patient experience through excellent customer service and meal rounds. Retrieves trays after meal. Utilizes excellent communication skills while interacting with patients, staff, and guests. Establish rapport with patients/family members and displays empathy and compassion. Able to process and deliver enteral supplies. Verifies allergies, preferences and expedites meal service for assigned area. Collaborates with dining services staff in order to facilitate meal service. Must be self motivated, able to work in an unsupervised environment. Estimated pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.38 / hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Certification, GED, Training or Experience required.

Licenses & Certifications

• Food safety certification required within 90 days of job entry.

Additional Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience with computer related skills, with knowledge in wireless printing, iPads and hardware maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially phone etiquette.
• Interpersonal skills and organization skills necessary.
• Must be motivated and able to work independently.
