Job summary

Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital is seeking a Diet Clerk to support patient meal service, process diet orders, and educate patients on diet restrictions. You will assist with menu editing, tray preparation, and delivery, while ensuring accuracy and infection control, in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Hours include early shifts, with opportunities for advancement and a comprehensive benefits package. Prior hospital experience and basic computer skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• No diploma or degree required.
• One year hospital diet clerk experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and English communication required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient meal service and diet order processing.
• Check tray lines and adjust therapeutic menus.
• Deliver patient education on diet restrictions.
• Prepare and deliver patient trays and late trays.
• Navigate Computrition and BSC to run necessary reports.
• Observe infection control practices at all times.
• Perform weekend cleaning duties as assigned.

What will you be doing in this role?

As the Diet Clerk, you will assist in effectively executing patient meal service, including processing diet orders, checking tray lines, adjusting therapeutic menus and delivering basic education on diet restrictions to patients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists patients with menu preferences.
• Performs menu editing and checks SmartSubs for accuracy.
• Prepares patient trays accurately. Prepares and delivers late trays.
• Checks patient trayline for accuracy.
• Assist with food service work duties as necessary.
• Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
• Observes infection control practices at all times.
• Performs weekend cleaning duties as assigned.
• Able to effectively navigate Computrition and BSC including running necessary reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

  • Critical Pipeline Loan: Tuition loans up to $5,250 for specific degree programs at approved, accredited schools identified by the organization. This program is for attaining the designated health science degrees.
  • Employees may have their loans Forgiven if they continue eligible employment for 12 months after completion of the term for which the loan was given

Hours:

8 Hour Shifts of 5 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. & 10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Education

• No diploma/degree required

Experience

• 1 year experience as a diet clerk in a hospital setting - Preferred
• Basic computer knowledge Required
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Required

Licenses and Certifications

• - Upon Hire, ServSafe Food Handler Card through the American Restaurant Association - Required
