Job summary

PIH Health Whittier Hospital seeks a Diet Clerk to support nutritional care by processing diet orders and obtaining patient menu selections via CBord. The role ensures selections align with physician orders and verifies trayline accuracy for each patient.

This position requires at least 6 months in a hospital diet office, strong English literacy, and basic math skills, with knowledge of modified diets. Computer skills and CBord/Computrition familiarity are advantages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to speak, write and read English and do simple math.
• Minimum 6 months experience working in hospital diet office; knowledge of modified diets required (Renal, Dysphagia, Cardiac, Sodium Controlled, etc). Education may substitute for experience.
• Able to process diet orders, tube feedings, diet changes and NPO orders accurately; minimum 6 months experience checking trayline to ensure meals meet prescribed diet order (education may substitute).
• Intermediate computer skills; experience with Computrition/CBord or similar systems is helpful.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Diet Clerk functions as support in the nutritional care of patients. The primary responsibilities are processing of diet orders, obtaining patient’s menu selection via CBord computer system and correcting those menus to ensure selections meet physician-prescribed diet order, checking tray line for accuracy to patient menu selection and prescribed physician diet order, and communicating effectively to ensure high quality food service to patients.
