Job summary

Sahling Kenworth in York, NE is seeking entry level and experienced diesel truck mechanics to repair, troubleshoot and maintain Class 8 trucks. Candidates must be mechanically inclined; 3–5 years for experienced technicians. Excellent benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; formal technical degree, certificate or equivalent preferred.
• Experienced technicians must have 3–5 years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Personal tool inventory required to perform duties.
• Effective written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to obtain a Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy duty vehicles.
• Troubleshoots electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine and suspension systems.
• Writes detailed repair descriptions on repair orders including causes and repairs.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults and interprets results.
• Reads fault descriptions and determines efficient repair procedures.
• Communicates with shop foreman with accurate repair information for orders.
• Obtains supervisor permission for repairs and additional work.
• Coordinates with parts department to obtain necessary components.
• Conducts road tests to verify repairs and problem isolation.
