Job summary

Saia Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on heavy trucks in Vernon, CA. The first shift runs Wednesday to Sunday, 6:30am to 3pm, with Mondays and Tuesdays off.

Responsibilities include diagnosing failures, replacing engines and transmissions, and documenting all work to ensure safety and reliability. Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18, authorized to work in the United States, and provide their own maintenance

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
Read, write, communicate and comprehend English to perform job tasks.

Responsibilities

Repairs and maintains systems on class 6, 7, 8 powered tractors.
Diagnoses failures and repairs mechanical, electric, and systems.
Uses hydraulic jacks to access underneath vehicles.
Assists in the replacement of engines, transmissions, differentials, and springs.
Troubleshoots heavy-duty truck engine, braking, electrical, and exhaust systems.
Documents inspections and maintenance tasks.
Collaborates with partners for training and assistance on complex repairs.
Tests vehicles after repairs to ensure proper function.
