Job summary

Saia Inc. in Vernon, CA, is seeking a diesel mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on heavy trucks. You will work with class 6–8 tractors, diagnose issues, and ensure safety and reliability of our fleet.

Shift is 2nd: 4pm–12:30am, with Saturdays/Sundays off. Pay ranges from $38.20 to $43.80 per hour, depending on experience, plus competitive benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• 2 years diesel mechanic experience.
• Proficiency in diagnostic software.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains systems and parts on class 6, 7, and 8 tractors.
• Diagnoses failures and repairs mechanical, electric, and system components.
• Uses hydraulic jacks to access underneath vehicles.
• Assists in engine, transmission, differential, and spring replacements.
• Troubleshoots heavy-duty engines, braking, electrical, and exhaust systems.
• Documents repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks.
• Collaborates with partners for training and assistance on complex tasks.
• Tests vehicles after repairs to ensure proper function.
