Job summary

Poeppelman Materials is seeking a Diesel Truck Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair ready-mix trucks, heavy equipment, and pickup trucks to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Passion for safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in mechanical technology or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance or repair (OTR, Ready Mix Trucks, or heavy equipment preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient with common shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on ready mix trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Repair or replace defective parts on engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and drive systems.
  • Maintain and repair truck-mounted mixers, chutes, water systems, and other concrete delivery components.
  • Ensure vehicles meet DOT safety and emissions standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inspection reports.
  • Respond to road calls and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with company and MSHA safety standards.
  • Must adhere to all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment safely at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Summary:

The Diesel Truck Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of equipment including, but not limited to ready-mix concrete trucks, heavy equipment, and pickup trucks to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
