  • Flexibility to teach day and evening classes across multiple sites and possible overloads, including summer teaching.

  • Maintain office hours and campus presence per UA-PTC policy.
  • Participate in orientations, professional development, mandatory trainings, events, and meetings.
  • Establish positive, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues and staff.
  • Utilize syllabus, Blackboard, and class timeline to present information timely.
  • Provide accurate records of assessments and final grades.
  • Organize advisory committee meetings each semester to engage industry.
  • Support student participation in SkillsUSA competitions.
  • Align curriculum with ASE standards and participate in program outcomes assessment.

The University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, Arkansas, is accepting applications for a Full-Time 11‑Month Assistant Teaching Professor for Diesel Technology. University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College provides access to high-quality education that promotes student learning and enables individuals to develop to their fullest potential.

Position Summary

Full‑time faculty are professionals with the responsibility of providing quality learning experience for UA – Pulaski Technical College students. Faculty perform instruction‑related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

The successful hire will teach Basic Diesel Technology Diagnostics, Diesel Fundamentals Theory, Power Trains, Air Conditioning Systems, Basic Servicing Tractors and Trailers, Advanced Servicing Tractors and Trailers, Electrical Systems and Advanced Diesel Diagnostics, Hydraulics for Mobile Equipment, Diesel Fuel Injection Systems, Brake Systems, and Internship courses as assigned.

General Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of office hours/establishing a campus presence in accordance with UA-PTC Campus Presence Policy 623.
  • Actively and consistently participating in orientations, professional development workshops, all mandatory or required training, events, and meetings, such as shared governance, commencement, and convocation.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive, collaborative working relationships with students, colleagues and staff.
  • Demonstrating a willingness to use contemporary educational techniques and technology.
  • Maintaining skills or knowledge required for the Diesel industry.
  • Utilizing syllabus, Blackboard, timeline of class curriculum and other information to present information in a timely manner for the success of students.
  • Providing prompt and accurate records of assessments and final grade reports.
  • Demonstrating consistent professionalism with students and commitment to working cooperatively with campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College.
  • Organizing and hosting advisory committee meetings once each semester to ensure ongoing industry engagement, gather program feedback, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support student participation in competitions such as SkillsUSA.
  • Completing all required reports, including but not limited to, course‑level or program‑level outcomes assessment and academic program review, within the prescribed time frame.
  • Ensuring curriculum is aligned with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
  • Summer assignments include but are not limited to teaching, summer camp, and industry specific training.
  • Obtaining certifications as it relates to teaching assignments in diesel and industry specific training.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department director, school dean, or Provost.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in the Diesel Industry.
  • 3 current ASE T‑Series Certifications or will to obtain within first semester.
  • Faculty will possess competence and experience to develop, revise, implement and assess the curriculum to ensure that students are acquiring current knowledge, including familiarity with technology used in classroom settings. The ability to utilize web‑based educational technology is expected.
  • Faculty must have flexibility to teach day and evening classes. Teaching assignments may include our Main Campus and any other sites (including off‑campus partner locations) and may involve alternative delivery methods. The possibility of teaching overloads for extra pay exists as well as summer teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the Diesel Industry
  • 6 current ASE T-series certifications

$70,000 annually
