Job summary

XPO, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic in Carlisle, PA to maintain, diagnose, and repair class 6–8 diesel equipment, trailers, and related machinery.

The role requires practical experience or a technical background, with EPA HVAC certification due within 90 days of hire and a valid driver’s license. Typical duties include preventive maintenance, diagnostic repairs, HVAC work, safety inspections, and log-keeping.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance.
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)
• A valid driver’s license required.
• Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills.
• Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA regulations 396.25.
• Vehicle inspection qualified per FMCSA regulations 396.19.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment.
• Inspect and service equipment, access hard-to-reach areas, and perform necessary repairs.
• Repair or rebuild various systems and troubleshoot component issues.
• Perform HVAC system repairs and ensure DOT/EPA/OSHA compliance.
• Conduct safety inspections and document findings; maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Move trailers on site and operate a hostler; log work times and parts used.
