Job summary

Van Wall Equipment invites applicants to join the Green Iron Academy, a paid 4‑month development program to train as a Diesel Technician. The program emphasizes hands‑on learning, John Deere certifications, and employment at a sponsoring Van Wall Dealership after completion.

Participants will train at Boone's facility and at dealer locations, with housing provided for those relocating. Upon graduation, they transition into full-time roles servicing customers and equipment across Iowa.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of full-time work in a related field (diesel/mechanical).
• High School Diploma or GED required; additional education preferred but not required.
• Willing to pursue a long-term career with John Deere products at Van Wall Equipment.
• Demonstrated reliability, safety focus, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to use dealership software and access training materials online.

Responsibilities

• Participate in classroom training at the Boone, IA Training Facility and manufacturer programs.
• Gain hands-on experience in diesel engine service, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Complete John Deere University online courses and certifications.
• Learn to use service manuals, diagnostic software, and tools effectively.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic service under supervision.
• Assist with diagnostics, troubleshooting, removal, and reconditioning of components.
• Attend additional training after graduation as required.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work area.
• Collaborate with peers on projects and assignments.
