Van Wall Group offers a Green Iron Academy, a paid 4-month hands-on development program to become a John Deere Certified Technician. The program feeds into a full-time Diesel Technician role at sponsoring Van Wall Dealerships across Iowa upon completion.

Training includes classroom, manufacturer-led instruction, and access to John Deere University online courses, with housing provided for non-local participants and tool allowances to start your career.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years full-time work in a diesel mechanic-related field or similar trade.
• Desire to pursue a long-term career as an Agricultural Equipment Diesel Technician.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in classroom training and manufacturer-led programs at the Boone facility.
• Learn from experienced technicians and mentors in service and repair.
• Complete John Deere University online courses and certification requirements.
• Develop knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and precision ag tech.
• Assist with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and component reconditioning under supervision.
• Follow safety policies and maintain an organized, professional work area.
