U. S. Steel Minnesota Ore Operations is seeking an Auto/Diesel Maintenance Technician Mechanical to maintain and repair mobile mining equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

You will read schematics, troubleshoot, install, and operate equipment such as haul trucks, shovels, loaders, and dozers in a large industrial setting. The role emphasizes safety, requires overtime and rotating shifts, and offers tools supplied by the company.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant experience from military service) or equivalent education.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
• Willingness to overtime as needed.
• Adherence to safety procedures and use of protective equipment.
• Punctuality, attendance, and self-direction are essential.
• Pass assessment test(s).
• Safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems on mobile mining equipment (diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, 24V electrical, computer, and power transmission).
• Order parts and repair equipment; maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces as required; may work independently or with others.
• Operate in various plant areas with conditions that may be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet or noisy.
