You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

As a Technician II at Penske, you are a respected technician. You are trusted to work independently while doing major and minor repairs, performing road tests to diagnose problems and completing maintenance tasks. You set an example and informally mentor new technicians while continuing to grow your skills from learn from other experienced techs and your manager.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
2. Doing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
3. Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials
4. Keeping your work area clean and safe
5. Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
6. Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training
7. Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

1. 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
2. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
3. Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
4. Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools)
5. Valid driver’s license required
6. The ability to solve problems
7. Excellent customer service and communication skills
8. The ability to work well as part of a team
9. Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
10. Basic computer skills
11. Must comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management
12. Must adhere to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies
13. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
14. Willingness to travel as necessary within the district

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
2. Use of hands on a routine basis to operate required tools
3. Ability to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms
4. Work in all weather conditions
5. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg
