Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is recruiting a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on our fleet, including diesel heavy trucks. The role performs PMI, troubleshooting and rebuilds major components to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Ideal candidates have 3-5+ years of class A or B mechanic experience, with strong diagnostic skills. Prior exposure to waste management or heavy equipment is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic.
• Computer diagnostic experience is required.
• Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus.
• Trade school or similar training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI) and troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components.
• Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
• Assists in service calls for breakdowns and other maintenance related work as required.
• Washes vehicles and equipment and conducts safety checks on vehicles.

Essential Job Summary
Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment.Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.Additional responsibilities include:Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
• Washes vehicles and equipment.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
• Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
• Perform other maintenance related work as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
