JOB TITLE: Diesel Technician Lead

DEPARTMENT: Fleet

JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $35-$40/hr

REPORTS TO: Fleet Manager/Director of Fleet

Job Summary

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking a Diesel Technician Lead. This safety-sensitive position involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. Responsibilities include running diagnostic tests, identifying failures, and resolving issues, which may involve tasks such as replacing transmissions and third member assemblies. The Diesel Technician Lead will collaborate with and guide team members to ensure equipment safety and efficiency, and provide support and advice on repairs.

Essential Job Duties
  • Perform DOT inspections and repairs on company vehicles and machinery.
  • Use hand tools and powered equipment (impact wrenches, welding equipment, hoists, jacks, etc.) safely to repair trucks.
  • Diagnose malfunctions using electronic diagnostic equipment and wiring schematics, then make repairs.
  • Test drive vehicles to identify problems and verify repairs.
  • Replace parts, valves, bearings, assemblies, including heating and A/C systems.
  • Utilize knowledge of diesel emissions and diagnostics for accurate repairs.
  • Ensure parts meet factory specifications by inspecting and verifying dimensions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a diesel technician.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, logistics, math, and communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic computers.
  • Experience working on trailers.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge of forklift repair and maintenance (a plus).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (a plus).
Physical Demands
  • Frequent bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds over 20 feet.
  • Frequent reaching at waist level or above.
  • Ability to open/close cargo doors and climb into/out of vehicles.
  • Climbing ladders and stairs.
