Job summary

Penske is hiring a Diesel Technician/Mechanic III at our Honolulu location. You’ll perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on a variety of equipment, using Penske’s diagnostic tools and training programs.

You’ll work with experienced supervisors to learn Penske maintenance processes and safety standards, with opportunity for career growth and stability. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and meeting customer needs, with a focus on learning new skills through on‑the‑job coaching

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with 1–2 years automotive or diesel repair experience preferred.
• Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must understand and comply with Penske safety policies (DOT/OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Use Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as tire rotation and lubrication; handle some electrical and cooling system work.
• Learn new skills via Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
• Take on additional projects as assigned by supervisor.
