Job summary

Penske in Odessa, TX is hiring for an entry level Diesel Technician/Mechanic III. You’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs, keep vehicles safe and on the road, and learn Penske’s maintenance processes with expert guidance.

As you gain experience, you’ll work with a range of OEM equipment, use advanced diagnostics, and benefit from Penske’s training programs and strong career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and outdoors.
• Basic computer skills.
• Adherence to DOT, OSHA and Penske safety policies; proper tool usage and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance like tire rotation and lubrication; some electrical and cooling system care on gas/diesel engines.
• Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
• Take on additional projects as assigned by supervisor.
