FleetPride is seeking a skilled Technician III to perform preventative maintenance, advanced repairs, and diagnostics on heavy-duty trucks and trailers. You will train junior technicians and ensure high-quality workmanship across brake, suspension, electrical, and engine systems.

The role requires hands-on expertise with class 7 & 8 trucks, welding skills, and a customer-service focus. Work in a non-climate controlled shop; tools and PPE provided by FleetPride.

Qualifications

• Diesel technology degree or equivalent required.
• 7+ years of experience with class 7 & 8 trucks.
• Experience repairing 53’ trailers.
• Strong diagnostic and welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles for damage and malfunction.
• Train new service shop employees on procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance and major repairs.
• Diagnose and repair brakes, suspension, electrical, and exhaust systems.
• Overhaul diesel and gasoline engines; adjust drivetrains and clutches.

The Technician III will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESExamine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s)Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner.File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.Maintain a clean and organized workspace.EDUCATION & TRAININGDiesel Technology Associates degree7 + years of experience with class 7 & 8 trucksExperience repairing 53’ trailersKNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCETraining experienceDiagnostic experienceWelding experienceSKILLS & ABILITIESMust provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.Maintain perfect safety recordAbility to train of TechniciansStrong customer service skillsAbility to lift 50lbsWORK ENVIRONMENT Non-climate controlled shopFleetPride is the leader in the industry comprised of retail, service, distribution and wholesale divisions.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
